概述
描述
The isolated motor drive power stage supports high-performance motor-drive applications up to approximately 3kW using GaN technology. It combines inverter, isolated gate drive, sensing, protection, and auxiliary power functions for efficient power conversion and robust isolation between control and power domains.
The inverter stage implements SuperGaN FETs in a three-phase bridge topology, with built-in protection and feedback functions, including current measurement, phase-voltage monitoring, temperature sensing, and position and Hall sensor inputs. These inputs are transferred through isolation amplifiers to an external motor control processor that provides flexibility for implementing application-specific control algorithms and PWM generation.
System Benefits:
- Full isolation between the control and power domains improves robustness, safety, and suitability for high-voltage motor-drive applications.
- GaN-based inverter stage enables high-efficiency operation and evaluation at higher switching frequencies.
- Fast fault response with overcurrent and short-circuit protection is implemented through a dedicated hardware protection path independent of MCU processing.
- Auxiliary power architecture derived directly from the 400V DC bus generates all hot-side and cold-side supply rails without requiring an external low-voltage auxiliary input.
- Enables direct reuse of the existing motor control software environment and supports future migration to Renesas motor control platforms.
